OUR ADVOCATE

We are fortunate to have Mike Gronstal represent us, our students, our schools and our profession. In the current political climate it is vital that you understand that we need YOU. Your time, your talent, and--eventually--your treasure will be needed to make sure that we reverse the trend of legislators who are willing to sell out our children for corporate tax cuts.

Make Council Bluffs transportation project tops in the nation

A Council Bluffs bridge project is in the running to be named the 2010 Best Transportation Project in the United States. The bridge is competing in America’s Transportation Awards, sponsored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, American Automobile Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The 24th Street bridge project in Council Bluffs was selected to compete on the national level for both the People’s Choice Award and National Grand Prize in the “On Time/Small Project” category. The bridge project was selected because of its innovative design and use of construction techniques that allowed the busy roadway to remain open throughout construction.

You can help our local project earn the People’s Choice Award by casting your vote www.americastransportationaward.org/. The People’s Choice Award and National Grand Prize each carry a $10,000 prize that can be used by the winning state for an education grant in the transportation field or to support a community project or charity.
